about nursery life

At Waterloo we take a maximum of 42 children per session (split into 4 groups of up to 15 children), and Briardale we take a maximum of 15 children. This ensures all children get the highest level of care and attention throughout their time with us.

All children have individualised learning programmes with targets specific to their level of development. They also receive 1-to-1 input with staff members to work on their individual targets.

We work closely with external partners such as Speech and Language therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, and Portage to set combined targets for those children who require additional input.

SEND to Learn are proud to have been part of the following Northumberland County Council pilot schemes:

  • 2019/20 academic year - Providing Exceptional Nursery Provision for 2 Year Olds.
  • 2020/21 academic year - Sustainability in Early Years
  • 2021/22 academic year - Narrowing the Gap (looking at creative ways to encourage the attainment of all children)

SEND to Learn are incredibly proud to also be a founding member of the Great North Early Years Stronger Practice Hub.

Forest School

We are the only private nursery in Blyth to have it's own on-site forest school.

Currently our forest school runs on a Tuesday & Thursday at our Briardale site for children from 2 years & up.

Morning sessions run from 9am – 12noon

Afternoon sessions run from 12.30pm – 3.30pm

Full day sessions run from 9am – 3.30pm.

Morning/Afternoon sessions cost £20 per child.

Full day sessions cost £42 per child.

Funded hours can be used for forest school, however an additional charge of £1.30 per hour is charged due to the nature of these sessions & the staffing required.

hand in hand - parent/carer network

Hand in Hand is our parent / carer network which offers support to local parents and carers on an informal, friendly basis. We hold regular sessions where parents/carers can come together over a cuppa to network and chat about any difficulties they are facing and find support.

This is open to parents of children of all ages/abilities.

These are FREE sessions run by our Parent Liasion Officer Anna at Briardale House.

Family Freebies

Free from our family to yours

In addition to our Hand in Hand parent / carer network, we now also run our Family Freebies project which is a regular drop in stall where families can help themselves to a range of donated items for free including adult / child / baby clothes, shoes, toys, books, household items, food etc.

Families can also enjoy a cupper and biscuit with staff while the stall is open and generally get support.
